About our theme

The color scheme for the wedding is CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black). We got the idea from our time spent working as designers at newspapers.

Each image in the paper is broken down into the four color components, and then a plate is made to run through the printing press for each color, like this:

Once all the colors are back together on paper, the image is complete.

It seemed like a good theme for the wedding for a few reasons:

• • It's nerdy enough.
• • It's something we learned about in journalism school, where we bonded over our love of print newspapers.
• • The colors are bold and joyful, just like diving into marriage.
• • The final picture needs all the pieces in order to be complete, as we need each other's stregths to build a lasting relationship.
